what most people dont realise is why hentai came about. most of you dont really care but its enlightening nonetheless. Japan's history of showing affection in public is a taboo subject. Married couples were not allowed to kiss in public and were certainly not allowed to fling their arms around each other. courting couples were not even allowed to touch in public so holding hands was strictly forbidden. this stemmed across into the media, where this sort of behaviour was not shown in films or magazines. thus, porn movies wether it be hardcore or softcore were unheard of and yet Japan had a very laid back attitude when it came to comic books and cartoons. there was no law in what they could or could not show and so, over time, comic books and cartoons was used to express all the feelings of an emotionally-pent up society. Hentai was born.
Most hentai is simply about love and feelings (shown rather graphically) but as with Japan who do love their monsters they had to throw in demons as well. Urotsukidoji - Legend Of The Overfiend is a classic example mixing love with tentacled demons. It doesnt take a smart man to realise that the tentacles are phallic symbols and the schoolgirls are not portraying peadophilia but rather innocence and beauty.
Hentai is a form of porn but more than that it is an art form. If you think all hentai is sick then I guess you are not seeing it for its true nature. There is some which does border on the perverted but you've got to remember that this is from a society where normal live action porn is a taboo and where anything is allowed in cartoons and comic books - of course there is going to be some sick stuff as well.
