Robocop, Superman, Dr Phil, Michael Myers are among a few that would've been great additions to the game.
But seriously, I think that the roster is fine the way it is. If there were more characters added, they pry would've just been rehashes of old or current characters.

By that logic I don't hold much hope for the sequel, since they'll have no new interesting characters to add. Personally I think more is better, I reckon they could put in more characters with a little imagination. For example, of the ones I mentioned I can imagine at least Knuckles being unique- he can glide and walk on walls, and being an echidna it wouldn't be a stretch to say he can burrow underground.

When did anybody mention a sequel? I was talking about SSBB. I'm sure they would add a few new characters for SSB? but it won't be much, and a couple of them will just be rehashes of old chars just like in this one.
I honestly feel that only videogame characters should be in the game, because it would sort of ruin the point of it. I don't know, but it doesn't seem right to have Neo from the Matrix and Jack Skellington beating up Freddy Krueger on Rainbow Cruise. They already kinda screwed up SoulCalibur 4, I don't want them to mess up Smash Bros. as well.
P.S: Scratch that, Jack Skellington would be awesome!
My cousin took a magnifacent crap in my toilet. Almost a foot long.....but he didn't flush and I had to live with the smell for three hours till I found out where it was coming from.
Crono, Issac, and Ray mk 2 please. Caramell Dancing as a new tune please!

I think the character from Fable would be fun to play, and his moves could be:
Smash: Bow (similar to link)
Side smash: Charge slash (like Ike's)
Up Smash: Lightning spell from fable that catches ledges (similar to Olimar's, but with lightning rather than pikmin)
Down Smash: Enflame spell from fable
Final Smash: Uses the spell Infernal wrath (circle forms around him on the ground, charges up, and everyone within the circle is caught and massive damage is dealt to them overtime)
and all other attacks would involve using his sword sword
