The problem here is that if I state any character in the game, someone will retaliate and tell me all the reasons why that character is good. It's a never ending cycle. Every character is good. I'll leave it at that.

What I can say is this though: DK is good for brawling, but he sucks for everything else. He's useless in all the stadium stuff.

^Lol. That's true. You won't ever see him in anything outside a regular Brawl. Oh well, we're all entitled to our opinions.

people keep saying its the noobs and kids that are arguing saying the game is unbalanced... but its really the naive that are convincing themselves that its not..

people thought melee was balanced for a year or so too... and now look... NOBODY disputes Pichu and Mewtwo's place in bottom tier and NOBODY disputes Marth and Falco on top.

give brawl another quarter or two. there'll be a tier list again.

But this time around we'll be smarter and we won't have to agree with the tier lists. There's much more variety this time around. 39 characters is hard to balance, but damn Nintendo did a good job.

Only if the online was better... (at least the lag is mostly fixed)

im saying that you could think one character is the worst,but then a person that uses that character the right way beats u...

^ ah i agree there is MUCH more variety. almost guarantees that a character will fit your play style. but nonetheless there are still characters that will not have the potential of other characters. you'll be able to combo with them still and KO but you'll find with some characters you'll lack variety and become predictable. ...if F smash is your only KO move how many do you really think you'll connect?

nobody's saying that you MUST obey the tier list... i wont lol but you cant deny that some characters are simply more nerfed than others

Agreed. I was just stating my opinion is all.

But it is a fact that some characters are better than others. It's just a simple fact.

1) The beauty of Brawl is that you have to adapt to playstyles. If you're metaknight facing bowser, you're going to have a different approach style than if you were facing Marth.

2) Potential is very broad. Every move in the game has a situational purpose. It's the players that understand and execute the right move/combo in these situations that come out on top.

3) If you play against the same player with the same characters, then yes you're going to become predictable, it's inevitable. There are only so many attacks and variations in the game. That's why I switch up my character after every match or two, to keep things fresh.

If you're like me, then you'll have a better understanding of most (working on all) of the characters, which means you'll understand the situational attacks that'll benefit you most, and you will know what your opponent's best move is to use and react accordingly.

so i play a wide variety and yes skill and approach are FAR more important than tiers... but if you take two equally matched players and one decides to chose his bottom tier main instead of his top tier main he will most likely get owned

to me the tier list can ruin a brawler's life...example:
robert loves dk
he sees that dk is at the bottom
robert sad,and will stop liking the game as much as he used to.

@ ZEROLAZAR: Oh trust me, I understand what your saying, and liek you, I can own with everybody. But there's just some chars that you find less effective than others.....it's just the feeling you get when you play with a certain char. you know, the player-character connection. [That only the most seasoned SSB players can feel.]

Anybody else here feel the player they'e playing with? It's like, you and the character are one. Lol, sounds kinda stupid, but that's just how the feeling is.

you know where he's strong and where he's weak and you know that once your in a familiar situation you and your character are unstoppable... its an awesome feeling hahaha

such would be the downside of an unbalanced game... but if robert ends up owning with DK as some do... then he's even cooler and the game made him awesome hahaha

That's what you call a favourite character. I know, I know. You can be good with someone you despise. Like, I think Olimar is a great character, and I'm decently good with him. But I don't like playing with him.

There are differences between favourite characters and tiers.

And yes, tiers kinda ruined Melee for me. I loved mewtwo. Every source said he sucked. So all my friends only played Fox, Falco, Sheik, or Captain Falcon. It took very careful strategy to not get raped in under 5 seconds (took them 10).

but your right about diff strats for diff chars,..... and knowin their strenths and weaknesses

Yeah. I'd just love to play as the badass bounty-hunter Samus all the time, as well as Captain Falcon from one of my favorite racing games, F-zero. But I'm just not good at using them. Thankfully, I can play as badass Ganondorf (even though he was nothing short of a wuss in the Twilight Princess boss fight).
