Ok, I just downloaded GIMP secretly (I feel dirty inside ) and I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the buttons and whatnot. Can someone explain to me what these buttons do (and their name)?

Ok, I got paint.net, andso far I like it, but I'm having the same problem I did with Gimp! You knowhow when you c&p images, it's got a large white square surrounding it? On paint there was a button to get rid of that! But I can't find the button on paint.net.

But doesn't that delete the background?

Depends where you're getting these images from. If you don't want anything but the picture, simply go to PlanetRenders.net, search for your image, click on the thumbnail (you must do this 1st), and finally save the image. When you open it the background should be transparent.

F.Y.I. You must be a member of PlanetRenders before you can do ^^.

If you have an image you can't find any where but Google, just render it. With the Polygon Lasso tool.

There a usefull tool thing called layers
Paste the background into a layer then make a new layer for the sprite

In this image there are three layers for each frame
One for the the desk one for the sprite/scetch and one for the back gorund
It makes it easyer to do sprites with backgrounds
