NEW YORK (AP) — Rangers forward Sean Avery remained in an intensive care unit Thursday, two days after his spleen was lacerated during a playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"He won't be removed from there until it stops bleeding, and it hasn't," team spokesman John Rosasco said Thursday after the Rangers held their morning skate before Game 4.
Avery spent Wednesday in the hospital after his injury ended his season. He is expected to be hospitalized at least a few days. Avery did not need surgery, and Rosasco said he is expected to make a full recovery.
"He was never in a life-threatening situation," Rosasco said.
Some teammates saw Avery on Wednesday, and coach Tom Renney hoped to visit on his way to Madison Square Garden. The Rangers trail the Penguins 3-0 in the best-of-seven, second-round series.

Even though im tipping Detroit to win the Cup, i really like the look of the Flyers at the moment seem to be playing well and when i saw them last week there looked the better team over Montreal. Plus id like to see them win anyways with Montreal knocking out the Bruins

well as of now Detroit is up 7-1 at the start of the third. That's not a typo......7-1.
Pens game was rough to watch tonight. NY finally figured out how to defend against us. It's ok, they aint gonna win at Pittsburgh.

i was really hoping that the Penguins swept the Rangers...just to make fun of some of my friends, and of course their come back was always "atleast we knocked out the Devils" lol. im always just like...old news. doesnt even matter anymore. and they walk away. and i chuckle...well basically there is no way in hell the Rangers are coming back so WOOOT! lol.
Flyers are still suprising me by basically dominating the Canadiens. Stars are probably gonna knock off San Jose tonight since they seem to dominate the Sharks on the road. and Detroit just kicked ass for one reason, Forsberg did not play all series long.

Three reasons why the Flyers are still in the playoffs:
1) Biron
2) Biron
3) Biron
He has been on fire. Honestly. If the Flyers were still playing Nittymaki they would be out by Game 6 of the first round. Also, the fact that they got matched up with a Huet-less Canadiens and a 3rd place team with less points than them kind of helps.
Also, some stats here. In the three games that Montreal lost to Philly, Biron saved 104 of 110 shots. A .945 save percentage. Incredible. Simply incredible.

yes Biron is on fire, but i think you have to give some credit to Brier as well. hes been on fire too...but i agree. if Nittymaki was in they would have been eliminated already, but i dont think the lack of Huet is Montreal's problem, ive watched some of these games in the series and i just dont think Montreal has played to their potential...theyve given up some weak goals, and just havent scored when they needed to.

Well the weak goals are because they don't have Huet. You are right though, they just haven't played well.
Flyers will be in for a rude awakening against Pittsburgh.
Also, San Jose has proven what I know. They can only play well with their backs against the wall. They were, after all, down 3-0, now 3-2.

meh. really really really dont like the Canadiens. i couldnt really explain why. i hate their colors, their logo, their uniform, their goal horn, THEIR NAME! I MEAN COME ON! HOW CREATIVE! lol. and honestly i didnt really want a candien team to win the cup, but if one were too, i really wouldnt want it to be the Canadiens. hate them. dont really have good reasons why but there just one of those teams i cant stand. i do really want to go to a hockey game in one of the canada teams arenas, cause it seems like its nuts.
but man these conference finals should be good ones.

And a PERFECT matchup is Crosby, Malkin, Hossa, Fluery vs Biron.......
Although, it is true that basically Montreal only has Kovalev. Either way, Pittsburgh would own. Honestly, I think the Rangers could beat the Flyers and Canadiens.

Can't say I've posted here in a while..
I would like to see both the Penguins and the Stars advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. As long as Phili is eliminated I'm happy
Poor Kolzig..

Just a few weeks after an unexpected and improbable playoff run ushered in the Alexander Ovechkin era of Capitals' hockey, the Olaf Kolzig era has come to an end.
Kolzig will not be returning to the team that drafted him in 1989. Instead, Kolzig's Capitals career seems to have ended with him watching the team lose to the Philadelphia Flyers in the Game 7 of their first round playoff series from the bench.
"For me, it was disappointing the way it ended," Kolzig told the Washington Post. "It's unfortunate, because they have a good team here now. It's a fantastic team, fantastic group of guys. Not to be a part of that is going to be tough, especially after 17 years and three years of what we went through post-lockout."
"It just doesn't feel right. But at the same time, as an athlete, you have to know when to move on."
Kolzig took the Capitals to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1998 and is the city of Washington's longest-tenured professional athlete.
"I realized that Game 7 was my last game as a Cap. That night was a very emotional time for me. I was one of the last guys to leave. It sucked that I wasn't playing, but I wanted us to go as far as we could. In the back of my mind, I thought that it's ironic, I'm not playing, but this could be our time to win a Cup. And in a weird way, this is how I get my ring, especially the way we were coming back. So I was even more disappointed when we lost Game 7, knowing that was going to be my last game."
