Don't forget that Brodeur had the most shutouts ever in the playoffs, clinching it on game 7 of the Cup Finals. Also we still had Nieuwendyk (sp?), Niedermayer, Stevens (actually he might have gotten the concussion during those playoffs, I can't remember), Gomez.....

And this year we lost to the goddamn Rangers.

2003 was probably the greatest year ever...it really clinched my loving of hockey, and New Jersey. i wasnt a huge hockey fan in 2000 but i watched some, 2003 i watched the majority of the season and the playoffs, that really locked me in as a hockey fan. such a good year. and yes that was when Stevens got hurt. i believe it was against Tampa Bay.

but yeah the Devils are not nearly the team they used to be, they lost all their key defenders that no doubt played a huge role in the success of Brodeur with his shutouts.

and dont worry we'll be better next year, just gotta make sure we resign Pandolfo and Gionta, i think they're the big name free agents for the Devils this year.

Honestly, 6 powerplays (one 5 on 3), scored first, at home where they won 17 straight. Sad. Just totally and completely sad. That was Pittsburgh's game to win or lose.

Great penalty killing by Red Wings cant deny they played well. I think there was some dodgy calls not given to Pittsburgh sometimes but no one can say they didnt have there chances to win either.

it definitly was the Penguins game to win, but hey, you cant say it was completly pathetic and sad. considering the fact that the Penguins high powered offense has been completly OWNED in each loss. i give entire credit to the Red Wings, for having such an amazing defense.

and i just have to say it...to take Malkin out of a game: hit him...he literally has done nothing all series cause he just gets knocked on his ass when he has the puck.

Wow. My friend sent me a text after game 4 saying there was "no f***ing chance" we were gonna beat the RedWings.

I was getting ready to agree based on how they played in Detroit in games 1 and 2. So far tonight they are proving me wrong and I love it. This is a totally different team. And if they can beat Detroit at home, it's gonna be the biggest momentum boost you could possibly ask for coming back to Pittsburgh for game 6, Hockey God willing.

But what I've noticed is their ability to turn into a totally different team in 5 minutes time. 2-0 and they give up a goal off a shit turnover in their own zone? I thought we were over that crap after game 2 and 3.

Good note....Icing call on Detroit which means we can get out top line against their third or fourth line. In their own zone. That's when you make scoring chances
