Rangers rake the Leaves 1-0 in a shootout. Zherdev finds the net first, then Leaves tie it, then Sjostrom finds the net, which decides the game after Valley makes another save.
Valiquette was awesome tonight!!!
6-1, WHOO!!!

Nice to see that this thread is still going. Anyways, the Canucks just lost to the Sabres 5-2. Not the best performance by the Canucks..

Ragners also lost in OT 5-4 to the Red Wings. It was a hard fought game for the Buleshirts though, they did fight back from a 3-1 deficit at one point. That's all we ask as fans of our teams is to play hard & fight, whether it's fighting using performance or in hockey, fists too!!!

Devils beat the Capitals in a shootout...shouldnt have gone that far, Devils scored twice in a minute in the 3rd period to take a 3-2 lead, then Alexander Semin just threw a puck from the point and it hit a defensemen and went right in...oh well a wins a win!
injuries are piling up on the Devils both acquisations this offseason Brian Rolston and Bobby Holik are both out with injuries...Rolston a high ankle sprain, Holik a broken pinkie.

Devils dominated the Stars 5-0 Brodeurs 2nd shutout of the year. he needs 8 more wins to break the all time record. and i think it may be like 5 more shutouts to break the all time record.

Ok, so we finally were able to draft our fantasy hockey teams. We had so much trouble finding an 8th team, but if we didn't do it this week, I was gonna can the whole thing altogether. Now my hockey knowledge is very very limited as of now, but I hope to change that starting this year. Here's my team, obviously I have quite a few Rangers on my team, but given how they've been doing so far this year, why not??
Let me know how I did...
C- Jason Spezza
Scott Gomez
Brandon Dubinsky (BN)
LW- Alexander Ovechkin
Simon Gagne
Markus Naslund (BN)
RW- Nikolai Zherdev
Petr Sykora
Brian Gionta (BN)
D- Brian Rafalski
Scott Niedermayer
Niklas Kronwall
Sergei Gonchar
Ron Hainsey (BN)
G- Henrik Lundqvist
Ryan Miller (BN)
4 of these players are drafted to the bench (BN), but obviously I'll move them around. Now that I look at it, I have a Ranger for every position except defense, though I was one pick away from Wade Redden...

Ahh what an awesome win last night against the Penguins. Rangers were down 2-1 in the 3rd & Zherdev scored the game tying goal with 8.3 left in the period. Then Sjostrom scored the only goal in the shootout. Can't wait to go to MSG in 2 weeks. I ordered my jersey, cost me $170.
$115 is the starting price, then it costs another $55 to get a name on the back (I got Zherdev, it was between him or Dubinsky). I don't understand why they only sell a few jerseys with players names on the back, yet when you go to customize, they give you a drop down list of player's currently on the team. So in hindsight, I'm paying $15 extra, wtf??
Yeesh!!!

Rangers beat the Islanders 4-2 last night. Drury scored his first 2 goals of the year. Hope he breaks out soon. Rangers win their 3rd straight. I never get tired of saying it...

Rangers game last night was unbelievable. I was there with my friend, 2 rows behind the Rangers bench (I have pics if anyone cares to see). Rangers were down 2-0 in the 3rd period, Nigel Dawes scores with a little over 6 minutes left. Then Markus Naslund scores with 53 seconds left. Nothing happens in overtime so they go to shootout. Henrik was lights out in the shootout & Drury scored the game winner. The environment at MSG is ridiculous. I don't think I've ever seen a crowd that electric, not even at Shea!!!

Wow southpaw, seems like you're the only hockey fan on this forum.....until I got here! I'm from MN so naturally I'm a big Wild fan. I don't ever hear too much about what goes on in the eastern conference. I will say go Rangers though, I have Scott Gomez on my fantasy team.

Good to know!!! I'll be going back to the Garden tonight for the game against the Flames. So far I've been to 2 other games, both ending in shootouts, Rangers won both. It's a pretty wild story. My friend has a Drury jersey, I have a Zherdev jersey & the 1st shootout we were there for, Drury had the winning goal. 2nd shootout (2 days later), Zherdev has the deciding goal. Both times the Rangers tied the game in the 3rd period & we were in one of the Suites the 2nd game. It pays to know the right people. We could possibly be going to Adam Graves night too. How crazy would that be?!?
Anyways, the Rangers took a pretty bad loss against Montreal. One thing they need to do is be able to put teams away in regulation more than once every like 5 games & for God's sake please score first!!! Though I will say they are awesome in the shootout this year & Lundqvist really becomes a brick wall in those situations. And yes I missed Scotty Gomez when he was out, it's great to have him back!!!
I just pulled ahead to 1st place in my fantasy hockey league. I made a few updates to my team. My goalies are awesome (Lundqvist, Miller & Tim Thomas). I dropped Gomez (because he got hurt), Dubinsky, Sykora, Gonchar. Picked up Shea Weber, Jordan Staal who can play C & LW, Devin Setoguchi & Tim Thomas as I said before. Any idea if anyone has (Nikolai) Zherdev in your league?? If not, I would recommend picking him and/or Markus Naslund up!!! What does your team look like??

Wow dude, thats awesome that you've made it to some games this year. I've been to one Wild game so far, it was a loss to vancouver. I have tickets for a game against san jose in march as well. Yeah the Wild dropped a tough game to nashville last night. Josh Harding made 42 saves, he single-handedly kept us in the game.
As far as my fantasy hockey team goes, I'm not doing so hot in my league. My team isn't very strong. I have Paul Statsny, Saku Koivu, Andrew Brunette, Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Scott Gomez, Martin Havlat, Martin Erat, Marek Zidlicky, Duncan Keith, Brian Campbell, Michael Cammellari, Niklas Hagman and 3 goalies. Niklas Backstrom, Marc-Andre Fleury and Josh Harding.
Good luck in your league and keep posting Rangers updates, I appreciate them. I'll do the same for the Wild.

Only thing with Gomez is he's -7 in his last 2 games skating with Lauri Korpikoski & Ryan Callahan. Tom Renney needs to put him back in the Zherdev/Naslund line, otherwise I would suggest you look around for another center, Scorp...

yeah, I'm more worried about when Fleury is going to be healthy. I'm pretty much playing one goaltender and in yahoo fantasy hockey the goalies seem to be heavily weighted. I could pick up Manny Fernandez, but he's about the only goalie I could pick up.... I just dropped to last in my league this morning, i'm not good at fantasy hockey ha ha!

I would say I'm doing well with this being my 1st year playing fantasy hockey. The one thing I love about fantasy sports in general is that it helps me learn about not just players on my favorite team, but it gives me a good idea of who's good on other teams.
Don't sweat it though being in last place, my buddy in fantasy footballl has only won 2 games this year & I just beat him this past week!!!
If you wanna give a few other goalies a spin, try Steve Mason on Columbus who has been a pretty big surprise & is starting to establish himself as the Jackets #1 net minder or Alex Auld on Ottawa. My problem with goalies right now is because Manny Fernandes is doing so well, it seems to have taken a considerable amount of playing away from Tim Thomas. The other is that the Sabres have been spiraling, which may spell trouble for Ryan Miller in the future...
