I think I'm not surprised that it was nominated, but I wouldn't peg it for winning, and wouldn't vote for it winning myself. Though I think there's a difference between a good movie and a movie that's nominated for an Oscar.

I was floored then LotR did so well at the Oscars -- to me, they were fantastic movies through and through, but I would never have expected Oscars to come of it.
