bear with me, because every once in a while i'll get to thinking about LOST, and a random theory will pop in to my head.
i have a theory before the oceanic six left the island, charles widmore started killing people off, but struck a bargain with the ones he was going to let go. he made them use the "eight survivors" story as a cover of his genocide, and if they said otherwise, he would kill them too.
good theory BUT, why is sayid working for ben off the island? and why would he want to let six of them live? what does he gain from that? im not saying your wrong, just that your theory has a few kinks in it that you could probably work out with a little thinking. cant wait til it starts up again.

April 11, 2008 - Confirmation has come, first from Eonline's Kristin Dos Santos, and now also from TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, on the news Ausiello had earlier this week that ABC was considering adding an extra hour to Lost this season, bringing its Season 4 total to fourteen hours. Of course fans will remember that the original plan was for a sixteen episode season, which got dropped to thirteen episodes thanks to the writers' strike.
Ausiello says Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse really pushed for that extra hour, feeling it was necessary to complete the story they intended for the season. Ausiello quotes Cuse, who says, "We are very excited and grateful to [ABC president] Steve McPherson for working out the scheduling difficulties to allow us to make the second part of our finale two hours. Damon and I were working on the script and we just couldn't get it all done in one hour without shortchanging the story. Now the finale will have all the sweep and emotional completeness we wanted it to have — along with, of course, answering who's in the coffin."
The final two hours of Lost's fourth season will be aired back to back, which has caused ABC to revamp their May schedule. Originally, all three of ABC's new Thursday night lineup -- Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy and Lost -- were to air their season finales on May 22nd. Now however, following a new episode on May 15th, Lost fans will have to wait two weeks for the season to wrap up. Meanwhile, Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy will still air their season finales on May 22nd, but Ausiello says Grey's is also now getting an extra hour added to its finale, and will have a two-hour broadcast on the 22nd. Then on May 29th, the final two hours of Lost: Season 4 will air.
Pretty much that means the schedual will be as follows...
April 17th: --
April 24th: Ep. 9
May 1st: Ep. 10
May 8th: Ep. 11
May 15th: Ep. 12
May 22nd: --
May 29th: Ep. 13 & 14

Fantastic episode! The scene where Alex died was powerful and shocking, and most of the episode was quite intense.
Yeah, things are personal now. And it puts Ben (and by extension Sayid) on a quest to kill Penny, which could be awkward since Sayid knows who Penny is from Desmond.
And why can't Ben kill Whidmore? My guess: because of weird time stuff that is only slowly being revealed now, Whidmore has to stay alive in order to keep something in the past happening the way it's supposed to.
Maybe I'm just deprived of LOST, but that scene (as you've all already stated) with Ben's daughter was sooooooooooooooooooo intense. He shot her before Ben was even done talking! So unexpected!
And I got a good laugh at:
"Hello, smoke monster? Yeah, this is Ben, and... well...I don't know how to say this, but I need a little help disposing of these guys. No, no, its okay. You see, they changed the rules. Yeah. Yes. Five minutes? Thanks, I owe you one, big guy."
