All good things must come to an end. I officially stat that the Marlins 2008 campaign is over. They have lost 7 of their last of their last 10 and are 6 games back in the east.
Thanks for the great first half and hope that next year we can be more consistent. I will continue to root for the Fish in hopes that they can spoil someone else's October plans. Now I am off to root for the Rays, Dolphins and Gators.

Big Pelf pitched his 2nd straight complete game victory, losing the shutout in the 9th. But still a very strong performance as he threw 108 pitches I think. Delgado hit two 3 run homers, his 27th & 28th of the year & RBI's 85-90!!! Jose Reyes also hit his league leading 15th triple & drove in 2.
So they split the series with the 'Stros & will most likely go into Philly with a half game lead. Huge series, 2 vets go at it tomorrow in Pedro Martinez vs. Jamie Moyer. Then Johan Santana will face Kyle Kendrick on wednesday.
Looks like John Maine though could possibly be shut down for the remainder of the season. With Castillo activated today, Argenis Reyes got to stay up now that Maine is on the DL. My suggestion would be to bring up Jon Niese, please!!!
I got 2 more games to go to this year. One on the 7th where the Mets host the Phils & of course the final regular season game on the 28th where they host the Marlins. Would be nice for them to clinch before that day though...

Ok, so that ended up being a ridiculous win for the Mets against the Marlins. Both Perez & Volstad were good, but the pens were shaky on both sides. For the Mets, really it was just Luis Ayala & for the Marlins, it was really just Kevin Gregg. Something told me Beltran wasn't gonna waste any time watching a pitch with bases loaded & 2 out in a 2-1 ballgame in the top of the 9th. Mets won it 5-4 on a grand slam in the 9th by Carlos Beltran. Luis Ayala almost blew it, giving up 3 in the bottom of the 9th, but still got the save. Wow, just-- wow...

I haven't watched a pirate game for a while....been watching the olympics, and now it's football season!

Haha, well anyways, my pick for the WS champ... This year I'm really not sure, but considering how they've played all year I'm going to have to say the Cubs have the best chance. Cubs vs. Rays would be the series I would most like to see. I'm not a Red Sox hater, but I'd rather them not win again, and can't say I like any of the other teams that will be making it to the playoffs this year.
