To be honest, I would make my first priority replacing Hoffman, second I would go after a big bat or two. Or at least an established hitter. After that I would undo the moves they made this past off-season in regards to the middle relief, they weakened it big time, never knew how quality Brocail was until we needed him.
You?

First i would change the bullpen..get rid of Heilman and Sosa, get watever i can for them, then i would bring up Niese (a relief pitcher in the minors) and when Pedro comes back i would put Figgeroa in the pen also. Then i would address first base, i would Delgado till maybe June to get his swing back, if it doesnt then i would bring up this kid Mike Carp who is hitting .442 in the minors...but i would also try out Alou at first base so i can keep Pagan's bat in the lineup.

I'd have to agree with you there Bliss. Another thing I would do is sometime near the all star break see what Castillo's trade value is because, well, I don't like him. I'd platoon Easley along with a call up Anderson Hernandez, he's gonna have to get some more big league experience sometime. Carp is tearing it up right now in the minors, I'd say keep him there & call him up in september if & when we see Delgado still swinging a terrible bat. I'd move Carp to AAA by july so he's ready for september. I'd also move Nick Evans up to AAA in the 2nd half of the season with Carp & Dan Murphy, all 3 of them are tearing up baseball in ESL. Another thing that would happen is to tell Murphy to try playing 2nd base. He was drafted as a 3rd baseman, but unless he changes, he may not see the big leagues for a long time. And again, another september call up would be John Niese, a starting pitcher who I would put in the pen for a while, at least until 2009. I mean think about it, down in the farm system, you have Mike Carp (1B), Dan Murphy (3B, hopefully he moves to 2B), F-Mart (OF), Eddie Kunz (RP), John Niese (SP) & Nick Evans (1B, no telling what will happen when he comes up with Carp), seems like a bright future to me!!!

OMFG we won a game! They're still garbage. Took them 13 innings and a walk off Iguchi homer, but we won. Still the worst team in the west. We need our pitching to come out of the coma they're in and our bats need to wake up as well.

well i agree with you except for the Castillo part. The Mets are stuck with him for atleast 2 more years. The just signed him to 4 more years. And there was a reason behind that stupid sign...JOHAN. They are best friends and the reason he left the Twins was because of Castillo's trade. So i doubt thw Mets want to risk anything with Johan. He is bad but i can deal with him for this season and next season. Then after that he will be a back up. The only thing that will cause the Mets to either shelf him or release him is his knees. Other then that Castillo is pretty much safe.

The main reason Santana considered the Mets was because he wanted to win more than anything else, I doubt they were gonna trade him because he wanted a reunion with his buddy. Once Torii Hunter left, you knew Santana was next. Also don't forget the Sox & Yanks were more likely to get him until both teams backed out because of what the Twins wanted. I'm sorry, I just don't like Castillo, he's got that damn nagging knee problem, he barely hits the ball out of the infield & on top of that he's not aggressive enough at the plate. I can't think of too many players that will take a 3-1 pitch late in a game with the tying & go ahead runs in scoring position except Castillo...

Damn I was hoping they'd pull that game out.
Padres lose yet again. Looks like we're trying to play like the days of old when we were consistently terrible.

Mets pulled it out last night in extra innings.. David Wright hit the game winning single to drive in Endy Chavez.
