Well at least he's pitched fairly well right?

Yeah I just feel bad, especially with Kosuke slumping a bit. Yeah I'm whining about first place!
But I HATE the Brewers.

Yea, oh well. It looks like the Padres are hacking up what they can and selling off the parts that have some value.

They're shopping him, possibly to the Dodgers of all places.

Game one Braves win 4-0
Game two Marlins win 4-0
I love the NL East. Still Mets, Marlins, and Phillies within one game of each other.

Wow, that game sucked. Johan Santana was great, 105 pitches through 8 innings, 75 for strikes, gave up just 2 runs in what was one of the most important games of his Mets career so far. Jerry Manuel decides to close the book on him & bring in Duaner Sanchez to close with Wagner being unavailable, one of the few times I would have liked him to have been there. Long story short, the pen gives up 6 runs between Sanchez, Smith (wasn't his fault), Feliciano & Heilman as the Mets lose 8-6. First of all, why didn't Santana go 9?? He's THE ACE!!! What is the point of babying THE ACE like that?? He knows he could have went the full 9 & everyone else seemed to know that too, except Jerry. C'mon man, HE IS THE ACE OF THE STAFF!!! Don't let this happen again...

I agree with you, why do managers these days baby there pitchers so much. The think that drives me crazy is when they bring in a guy from the pen, we shuts the other team down 1,2,3 and then they pull him the next inn and lose the lead. Since when can closers only pitch in the 9th inn. Since when can bull-pen guys only pitch 1 inn. Back in the day(which was a sunday) your starter would throw 7 inns and then you would bring in a bull pen guy to finish the game.

yeah I like it too, and I'm not creative enough to think of any new ideas for a sig.
Well at least your team does something with there players. The pirates just sit on their asses and hope everybody will get magicly better over night. Every year they have the worst draft in the league, no money to spend on free agents, and if they happen to luck into getting a good player he will be gone once his contract ends.
But, you gotta believe right? I do like the new managment, front office we have now. I still don't get why we drafted john van benschoten as a pitcher a couple years ago. The guy was an All American 1b/of, who won a silver slugger award and holds the record for most hr in the MAC. I guess if we made him a play his real pos. he would get good and we couldn't afford him.

I'll be heading to Pittsburgh to visit the Pirates this weekend. I'm super excited. It will be my first time in Pittsburgh and my first time visiting a Major League park other than Dolphins Stadium and Tropicana Field.

^Sweet, pnc is a beautiful park unfortunatly the team isn't. I might be going to a game this fri, it's al oliver bobble head night. And no, you don't need to buy a gas mask, the air isn't black like it was in the 1900s. In fact it is very clean.
Assuming this is your first time is pittsburgh, Things you have to do:
-eat a primanti bros sandwitch, order as many as you can fit in a box they are that good.
-Visit one of the sports staduims(other then mellon area, but were're getting a new one soon
-Go to the Heniz history center(I think thats its name) tons of sports memerabila.
-Visit The Cathedral of Learning. It sounds gay but is fun for a little and you can see pitts campus.
-Eat as much food that you can get your hands on. Great food here, look for non-chain restrunants.
-lots of other stuff, but this is off the top of my head and since you won't be here that long, focus on the food.

Finally, sole possession of 1st place!!! Let's keep it that way please, I almost forgot what it felt like.
Oliver Perez, what can I say?? 12k through 7.2 innings, giving up just one run. He has been red hot since Dan Warthen took over as pitching coach & changed up Ollie's mechanics.
Delgado had a huuuuuuuuge 2 out, 2 run double in the bottom of the 8th to break a 1-1 tie. When David Wright crossed the plate, he made the most emphatic fist pump I had ever seen. This team has been so fired up lately & I hope it continues.
Can't wait to go to the game saturday, wonder who's gonna pitch in Pedro's place.
For those wondering why Pedro will miss his start, his father died wednesday night after a long battle with brain cancer. He was 78. R.I.P. Paulino Martinez, you raised one hell of a son!!!
That got me pumped!!!

what do you guys think about any trade rumors going around, or involving your team. It seems that the other gm's are getting pissed cuz they can no longer make lob-sided trades with my pirates. We're finally asking for something in return for our top players. I hope they can make a deal involving nady for some top prospects.
I hope I get to see a winning season in my lifetime.
But hey 4 game win streak! Going to game tonight.

ohh you guys are askin WAY to much for Nady, he is a good player but not worth what they are askin.
And also rumors for Street have risen but i dont see that happening either since Billy Beane is asking for the entire farm as always.
So i think the Mets will stay where they are with the team right now..actually it all depends on Church if he comes back or not.

It sucks about Nady. They trade him the day before I go to a Pirate game.
