Default Scariest Horror Movies Ever?????

OK. Let me just say I think there's already a thread of this but I'm not gonna look for it cause I don't have much time. Gotta get off the computer soon. So what I'm asking is what's the scariest or best horror movies you've people ever seen? I like The Eye and Death Tunnel. The Eye is really scary. Me and my class watched it and every scary part my friend alomst jumps out of his desk. And Death Tunnel is the best Horror movie I've ever seen. Oh Crap! I've forgot another one ok... 30 Days of Night. I watched some of that. I love it when one guy cut off a little girl vampire's head off with and axe. I also like it when he pushed another vampire into the crusher. Blood squirted everywhere. But I wished the crusher went slower. Mwa ha ha ha! Oh Crap again. Another one Silent Hill. Oh yeah when Aleyssa Gilepsy finally got revenge on the church people alot off blood there.

Unless it has a good story that consists of more than blood and guts and demons, I won't watch it. I find the typical horror movies to be pretty funny, actually.

Well that depends on what you're into. You should have seen the thread I made last Halloween before the WiiChat apocalypse. An hour and a half of me typing up the history of horror movies, concentrating on the best horror movies made. Some of my favorites come from the 80's Slasher Era. Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, etc. I'm also a big fan of the Golden Age of horror movies that gave us Dracula, The Wolfman, Frankenstein, etc. They may be corny by todays standards but they are classics that won't be forgotten.

Same here. Especially annoying are those "torture porn" films- Seven and the first Saw film were pretty good, but mostly they're just excuses to set people up into Rube Goldberg machines and watch them suffer.

Fully agreed on SAW, first film was great but after that went down hill.

I think that the new Halloween movie directed by Rob Zombie wasnt exactly scary just.... Disturbing... I still think it was a good movie. I lmao at alot of the "scary stuff" nowadays. Did anyone see the new Friday the 13th? It was pathetic. I lmao'd the entire time. Have not seen Haunting in Connecticut yet... Not sure whether or not it will be good.

I saw the new Friday the 13th. I didn't find it funny, just... boring. Honestly, I don't see the purpose in a remake. Well, other than to cash in on a famous series. *cough* Dragon Ball *cough*.

Dragonball was a decent movie. It wasnt as true to the series as some people would want, but it was very accurate to the original "Dragonball" series. I saw it, and im going to see it again today. I am a huge Dragonball/z fan, and I think the movie was good. With the exception of the lame kamehamehas and Krillin not being there. Oh, and Piccolos face makeup.

I made a vow to never watch the movie. Its sacrilege for Hollywood to pick up something like Dragonball and make a movie about it. Cowboy Bebop, Astro Boy, and Lupin III are going to get it in the ass too...

Too right. I'm not looking forward to Monster getting butchered by Hollywood later this year.

Don't forget Akira. It's going to receive the same treatment.

haha yeah same here. I don't think I stopped laughing the whole movie.

Like when the asian guy is locked in a tool shed with all sorts of weapons (saws, axes, hammers) and what does he pick....a tent peg!

I mean what the ****?

The best though is throughout the whole movie jason will be chasing someone and then they will look back and not see him. Thinking their safe they slow down and look back forward. Then jason will come out of nowhere and jump down from a tree.

The only movie that actually had me scared was the 6th sense. But that was only because I watched it in gradeschool and it was the first actualy scary movie I had ever seen. I don't know if I just had food poisoning due to the Mexican food I ate earlier, but I was so scared from that I was delirious and nauseous when I tried to sleep that night.

Other then that I can't think of any which have been even remotely scary to me. Most of them I find laughable.

Yeah, I saw the 6th sense when I was a kid, and that also scared me. Nothing else has since then, though...except for The Ring (American Version). That freaked me out for a little bit after seeing it. Some reason I couldn't easily wrap my mind around a seemingly omnipotent, tormented soul living on through a tape with the ability to kill you in the seven days, and then being released from it to the outside world. Somehow that concept disturbed me. I thought that movie was very well-done, though I'm sure I'm the only one here who thinks so.

I get more genuinely disturbed from scary movies that have more of a psychological thriller aspect to them than having a straight-laced horror movie approach. Horror movies are either funny or disgusting to me rather than scary.

I agree Bio. In comparison though, I did not like the Ring. I thought it wasnt really scary, but it tried focusing so much on just, whats the word, Jump moments. Like, omg, but just for a second. I dont really like movies that rely on that.

Also, just to through this in there, the Grudge was a complete ripoff of the Ring. Same basic concept with the whole tormented soul thing.

Haha, the jump factor. Yeah, it had a bunch of moments like that, but I thought the overall delivery of the film made it successfully scare me. I think it was more focused on retaining a "subliminal message"-type of uneasiness rather than just "jump factor". For instance, the completely subliminal message-style video, the haphazardly strung flashback scenes flashing to the screen without warning whenever someone's (particularly Samara's) past is being told, and the disjointed, split-second movements of Samara herself when out of the TV.

Your thoughts don't surprise me, though. The Ring gave some really mixed reactions. Either you were completely sold on its concept or weren't at all. I was sold on it, of course. I think the movie had a lasting impact in Hollywood, though. After that movie came out, it seemed like 10 billion other PG-13 psychological thrillers came out about some supernatural tormented soul that happens to kill people...or something similar. And nine times out of ten it belonged to some estranged little kid.

And yeah, I refuse to watch The Grudge (American, at least) after seeing The Ring. Even though both were already inspired by older counterparts, seeing the preview looked so much like a Ring ripoff I didn't think it would be worth seeing (and "wtf" at a meowing kid?). I also refuse to see The Ring two. I heard so many bad things about it that I'd rather be left hanging from the first one. From what I know of it, the plot is terrrrible and puts the first to complete shame.

Oh yeah, there's only one movie that still manages to creep the **** out of me and that's the Exorcist.
