I thought it was horrible, almost an insult. I have the episodes from the original TV show and they are, without a doubt, much better than the movie. The movie was too "techno" and did not capture the essence of the original series.

I saw it. It was excellent. The stylisation was superb and a number of actors from V for Vendetta made appearances.

You can definately see it is a Wachowski Brothers' film. I was wondering how they could get their usual anti-establishment themes into a kids film, but they managed it spectacularly.

...Also, very Post-Modern...

This movie just looks like one big mess.

Haven't seen it, but Speed Racer got a 35% on Rotten Tomatoes. That's bad.linkage

Not too surprising. From the trailer it looks like a seizure-inducing mess.

Note to any viewers: Go see the movie before you talk about it.

Speed Racer didn't really impress me from the trailers, but it surely did when watching it. From the spectacular races, to the superb colouration and editing style, it knew just when to add in action and just when to cut away from it.

Heck, if it didn't look like a big mess from the trailers, people would be complaining that Speed Racer wasn't as Speedy as it made out.

Oh, and Rottentomatoes isn't what I would call a reliable film reviewing site. As far as I can tell, it's the film reviewing equivolent of The Daily Mail. *shivers*

Yeah, I guess in certain parts it isn't very reliable. Funny thing though, when you go to Top Critics it actually got a 27%...

Anyway, it seems to be for people with certain tastes. If you are looking for an entertaining movie that is fast paced, Spped Racer is for you. If you are looking for a somewhat decent story, stay away. Generally what reviewers look for (excluding IGN, obviously) is a story, explaining it's low rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Didn't think the story was that bad tbh. Sure, it was a little minimalistic and took a back seat to the action and effects, but it's not like it didn't make sense.

i feel like speed racer isn't supposed to be real people. it should forever be cartoon characters

IMMO, that's not a deep storyline. In fact, I've seen that kind of storyline (although it's a combination of two) in several movies, with the whole and such. Can't think of any off the top of my head.

I saw Speed Racer a few days ago and I'm STILL blown away by it. We weren't ten minutes out of the theater before my friends and I were making plans to track down an IMAX theater showing it, so we could see it again even bigger.

Fantastic movie. So, so good. I think though that it's much better/more enjoyable for people who are at least familiar with the anime genre.

I don't know why people always listen to Movie Reviewers and those kind of people, they usually give every movie they see a bad or low review apparently. You shouldn't listen to them, just go by your own way and see what you think for yourself
