Double Fine Talks About the Wii Us Special Features for The Cave

The Cave is the latest adventure from the mind of Ron Gilbert, and it will be coming to all major consoles, including the Wii U, in early 2013. Developed by Double Fine, and published by SEGA, the adventure game has been described as odd and compelling by the developers.

The concept of The Cave has been bouncing around in my head for many, many years, and then the little voices that tell me to do things said it was time to make the game, added Ron Gilbert. Im thrilled to be working with amazingly talented folks at Double Fine and ecstatic that the team at SEGA believes in adventure games and quirky ideas.
The game involves lots of rappelling and spelunking in dark rocky caverns, with a team of three unlikely adventurers. Joystiq has managed to get its mitts on the Wii U version, and spoke to Double Fines Chris Remo about the Wii U version of the game. We did work really hard to ensure that visually everything youre seeing is identical to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, so theres no downscaling, theres nothing going on that is not up to par with the other next-gen systems, he said. Theres nothing super wacky going on, but its a completely full-featured version of the game.

As far as using the Wii Us GamePad is concerned, Joystiq says that it is basically a glorified character selector and camera controller, in that you tap a character to jump to them, and tap them twice to switch the camera focus onto them.
