Slowly, but surely, the Wii U is getting some fantastic games for serious gamers, with surely one of the most eagerly awaited of all being Capcom’s Resident Evil Revelations. With this in mind, Capcom has just released some more exciting details about the forthcoming game, prior to it making an appearance at PAX EAST this coming weekend in the Capcom booth (#948). For starters, we have the news that Resident Evil newbie, Rachel, who made her series debut in the 3DS version of Resident Evil Revelations, will be joining Hunk as a brand new playable character in the game’s Raid Mode. PAX EAST visitors will get the chance to play as either character this weekend, and we have a brand new picture of Rachel in the game for you at the top of this post. Also released this week are details of two new enemies, namely the Wall Blister, and another new creature that makes its debut in Raid Mode when the player reaches a certain level.
Capcom has also released some Wii U-specific details, revealing that there will be three different styles of play unique to Nintendo’s new console. Firstly players will be able to use the GamePad screen to quickly access their map and weapons, or, secondly, if they like, they can use the Wii U pro controller, instead of the GamePad. Thirdly, they can also play solely on the GamePad, via Off TV play.
Capcom has also revealed more about the Wii U version’s Miiverse feature, which offers further exclusives for Wii U owners, such as the ability to post a dying message on the Game Over screen for other players around the world. The Creatures Voice function is another feature that sounds a lot of fun, whereby players can taunt their friends by personalizing the thoughts of enemies in Raid Mode.
And if all that new information has whetted your appetite for survival horror goodness on your Wii U, then you’ve only got a couple more months to wait, as Resident Evil Revelations will be released on Wii U in North America on May 21, and Europe on May 24.
