cannot connect to the internet

We have tried everything, sometimes the Wii says we have a connection, but it lies!! No connection! Nintendo is saying that he needs the adapter, but we have a wireless network in the house, my sons laptop sits not 2 feet away and connects without a problem. I am using a Dlink 6G04T, have accessed the routers settings and input them into the Wii, but still no joy! Any ideas?

First off, this is the wrong section to post it under. Second, make sure the WEP settings are put in, as that's what helps me out (Router and system must have same settings.), also if there's a keycode given on the computer, write it down and enter it onto the system. Also, make sure the matrix settings is set to 1.
