Wii Remote Problem

Can't sync but 1 remote at a time. I've tried many times to sync but unable to do so. I can sync both up until the point where I have to hit both A and B to continue when playing Wii Sports. I can feel both remotes rumble when first synced but when I have to hit A and B to continue, only one will work. I can even switch remotes but only one will sync at at time. Very frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.
