wii start up stuck

I have not used my wii for about a year, so when I pulled it out I put in all new batteries and I cannot get past the start page. It does not matter what game I put in, it just goes to the same page and that is it. I have also checked all the connections and they seem fine. What am I missing and how do I fix it. I need to get the game big brain academy going for my mom to help her with her memory.(DR's Orders) Please help anyone.

Hey Nancyae. It sounds like a NAND problem. This could be classified as a semi-bricked Wii. Your best bet is to have BootMii installed as Boot2, and run a NAND restoration. You need the NAND.BIN and the KEYS.BIN to do this. If you don't have homebrew, then, well unless you want to knock yourself out trying your own methods to fix your problem, a repair by Nintendo is a good option.
