stuck on the first temple

im stuck at the part where you have to throw the spider bomb at the plant using the boomerang. ive done this to the rock to free the monkey but after trying many times i cant kill the plant. what might i be doing wrong?

If i remember correctly you just need to run and throw the bomb into the middle of the plant. It took me a few attempts but that's how i did it - don't remember using the boomerang for it though.

i was using the boomerang to pick it up and throw it at the plant. it worked fine against the boulder
