Beginner pulling my hair out!

Got zelda today and got into the first woods bit where you run up a slope and then have to jump onto 2 pillars and then onto a raised bit.

Can jump onto the first pillar OK but cant for the life of me get onto the 2nd pillar, always over shooting. Am i missing something? Can anybody help please before i shot the thing out of the window.

I know the part you're talking about.... I think.
You're going the wrong way. I don't remember exactly what you have to do but it doesn't involve jumping on those pillars. That comes later on..
You have to do something in the north of that area if I remember correctly.
