damn... i even created an awesome rollover swf...

anyway, mate you should do whatever you think is right, there is no one better than the other, its just personal preference, try going to a mac store and trying one before you buy to see how you like it.

Yeah they have set hardware, but what about hardware you add on? well they have there own software, no drivers you need to install, and for things such as printers, there pre-installed with the OS, but you can delete them for your HDD
Pre-installed software eh? Robin had to buy iWorks and later Office 2004

Hardware you add on? you can't add anything to a mac... only more ram and perhipherals e.g. USB devices.

Eh? so does windows... my creative zen has pre-installed drivers.

AND macs are 'installed with printer driver' my best bud has a Macy laptop and that didn't come with printer drivers installed on it, did it?

it entierly depends on the make and time of release if drivers are included in the operating system

and why'd you want to delete drivers? you can delete drivers off windows... big deal =S

OS X is easy to use, and just as functional
It must be functional... after all most people do dual boot with windows on their mac... other wise they'd never get anything done ^^

So basically only if ur into gaming, use Windows
[Sarcasm]So... that's why windows is the most popular operating system...[/Sarcasm]

No i said windows does these things with different programs. i.e. not using iLife or iWorks how about Office 2007, Windows Photo Galery, Windows Journal, Windows Media Player or Media Center? they may not be in a package like iLife is but they have more functionality and and can run more smoothly on a windows computer (See ports of WMP for Mac. - ports don't run well tbh that's why games don't run well on a mac ^^ , see iTunes for windows for another comarison of ports)

just because something doesn't have 'i' before it doesn't mean that it's only for gaming and not for normal people ^^

like you said, personally, thats an opinion. WMP11 is disgusting imo, i hate it, iTunes on the other hand holds my massive library, are you bassing your opinion on the release of iTunes 7.0 on PC
There you go... asuming things... as i said above my best bud has a OSX Macy laptop (it's a white one... Dual Cores and 512MB ram). I was comparing WMP11 to the latest Mac iTunes and how well it runs on his laptop. - it's slow and crashes.

yeah you can't really do that Apple has a clean sheet of errors compared to Windows, Windows ME? Windows Mistake Edition. hahaha
Everybody makes mistakes, personally we had ME and it was a pile...

Apple... clean sheet of error? (everybody who owns a mac thinks this =S if you look at it from outside your plastic bubble of bias you'll see it does have viruses and pleantlful mistakes)

Talk of operating system failures? None for Mac eh?

What about: OS9 - er... it wasn't based on a KERNAL!!!!! meaning it was buggy and crashed constantly. this edition of Macs operating system is the equivalant (if not worse) of ME ^^

True.. but i love Adium more than WLM.

Actually, i have a pc and a mac, so dont start grouping us as non-pc using people.

and most macs now dont have 512mb RAM, most come with 1gb standard, so that would be why itunes may crash.

My mac has iwork installed already and a trial of office 2004... Windows Pc's dont come with office either, so i dont know what the hell you're on about with that...

to put it simply, it's a matter of oppinion on what operating system layout you prefer. i like both systems, but i prefer the mac osx layout better. and whats more is why buy a pc, when you can have both on 1 machine...

    I wouldn't dream of it

    You priced another RAM card for a Mac? - 4x as much as a PC one (e.g. £30 for a 1GB PC DDR2 4200 - £60 for a 512mb DDR2 4200 stick for a Mac

=S Maybe it was called something else then... or maybe you got a special package... but Robin deff. had to buy a Office bundle...

His came with Office 2004 trial... but it's a TRIAL! - i.e. you don't own a licence and it runs out after like a month or something.

meaning it was buggy and crashed constantly. this edition of Macs operating system is the equivalant (if not worse) of ME ^^
That is were you are wrong, while you are correct in saying that Macs have bugs and viruses, they do not crash often and not to mention nearly as often as a Windows Operating System (Windows '98, XP, Vista ext). So, why do people choose to create more bugs more Windows' PCs and not Macs? The answer is simple. More than 3/4 of the people in the world use Windows which make Apple a lower, 2nd target to bug creators and hackers.

Changing the topic, while I agree the Mac commercials are a bit biased, that does not take away from quality of a Mac. Besides, what is there not to love? It has great apps. standard like CS, (new CS3 available), iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, Photobooth (only Macs w/ built in webcams), Microsoft Office: Mac not to mention Bootstrap which is a free application which allows you to use Windows viewing from your Mac. So, go with the Mac Mini, even if you weren't considering a Windows.

actually macs and macbooks are 1gb as standard

but i know what you'r saying, it is personal oppinion, as both are better at different things... I guess it's a bit like pepsi and coke... they're two different tasting products that in the end are almost the same thing...

completely wrong. It may be more difficult to upgrade a Mac but you still can.

Probably because she didn't install them. I believe you can choose to install them or not when you install OS X
it entierly depends on the make and time of release if drivers are included in the operating system

So you buy things based on how popular they are? That shows your intelligence.

I doubt it crashes more than Windows, unless there is something screwed up with it, and it only has 512MB RAM which isn't very much.

Everybody makes mistakes, personally we had ME and it was a pile...

Apple... clean sheet of error? (everybody who owns a mac thinks this =S if you look at it from outside your plastic bubble of bias you'll see it does have viruses and pleantlful mistakes)
Yes every one does make mistakes and OS X certainly isn't perfect. Also would you mind naming a virus for OS X? Because I doubt you would be able to do so.
Talk of operating system failures? None for Mac eh?

What about: OS9 - er... it wasn't based on a KERNAL!!!!! meaning it was buggy and crashed constantly. this edition of Macs operating system is the equivalant (if not worse) of ME ^^
Yes as I said nothing is perfect, and I didn't like classic Mac either.

    Fair enough
    You priced another RAM card for a Mac? - 4x as much as a PC one (e.g. £30 for a 1GB PC DDR2 4200 - £60 for a 512mb DDR2 4200 stick for a Mac
Thats why you don't buy RAM from Apple.

=S Maybe it was called something else then... or maybe you got a special package... but Robin deff. had to buy a Office bundle...

You don't need to buy office. You can use NeoOffice or something similar that works better and is universal binary.

I'm going to stop... i know operating sytems preference are opinion... but when people say Macs are better than PCs and use Non-fact that they claim as fact to back it up...=@
Macs aren't better than PCs and PCs aren't better than Macs it is all personal preference. Though Mac does alot of things better than Windows, it works the other way around too.

it just pees me right off... i.e. Macs have no errors (OS9?), no viruses (Those 43 don't exsit then?), don't need drivers (seriously? then how do they run the perhpherals? Magic?), are functional (name 5 3rd party software desginers that make well known software for only the Mac).
I never claimed they didn't have any errors. But again would you please point out a virus for OS X. They do need drivers, they just come with many, so you rarely have to install extra ones. I don't really mind installing drivers anyway.

didn't mention pre-installed software at all, i didn't mention iWorks.. and why waist money on office when open office does just the same with the same layout.

Depends what mac you have, a Mini no you can't nore a laptop, but the iMacs and MacPro's you can easily take apart and add new hardware. Peripherals are still hardware.

i think you will find it most likly did, the printer software didn't come pre-installed but you can plug in the printer, and use it straight away, unless it's some knock of brand. then maybe not.

aaaah yes most people.. have you asked the whole Intel mac user comunity if they have Windows on duel boot, and what they use it for? no you havn't and if you have, bet they only use it for a few tasks.

512MB of ram, well theres your mates problem!!! standard atm is 1GB for ANY OS... bet the PC computer had a different proccessor, different apps running, different ram, you can't compare things that easily.

here we go, the virus debate, name me one virus on OS X.

mate i use windows more than i do OS X, so learn who your talking to before you start talking..

OS 9? what you said is pure rubbish an OS can't not have a Kernal. it was based on Nanokernel. Both Mac's and PC's have had there down falls. as does any operating system.

kind of taking things out of context (half to blame for me saying things in the wrong way, OS X does need drivers for prepherials, but often they are downloaded automaticly by OS X without the user knowing, or they are in-built into the software/ hardware.

there is a difference between a virus and a worm etc... there are no virus's for OS X, there are over 140 worms and exploits for OS X, but there not the same thing.

name 5 3rd party software designers that make well known software only for windows...
