    Gymdawg's Writings

This is just some stuff I've penned over the years; just looking for some comments.

    Short Stories/Et cetera

It was then that a small group of rabbits wandered away from their homes, eager to explore the area surrounding the meadow which held them. They slipped past the sleeping elders of their village and silently broke the first barrier of dead leaves and underbrush.
The little creatures pressed forward. The didn't stop to examine the rushing waters they passed. They ignored the steep slopes winding down as they marched feverishly through the dark forest. As they continued, the trees of the forest rose higher and higher around them; as hands reaching towards the Heavens - but turning, instead to clasp the forest with a grip of darkness, as if, by some grave mistake, God decided not to create light on the first day. The feverish march continued; down, down, down, always down. The little rabbits no longer knew the way, but the feverish march did not stop.
Their feverish pace continued, the rabbits now locked in the march. Not one could escape now, not even if they wanted to. There were no questions, no exchanged glances, no words, only pairs. Two-by-two, the fevered rabbits marched forward. There was no thought, no light, no stopping, only silence to draw the fevered into the outstretched hands of the darkness.
The fevered did not keep time, rather the lost it, disregarded it along with so many other things along the feverish march, but after a time there appeared before them a great garden, and at the center of the garden there stood a tree, not of the knowledge of good and evil, but of pears. The fevered gathered around the great tree, their feverish mouths all longing for the pear's succulent juices. They admired the tree. They gazed upon its beauty and each absorbed the perfect roundness and firm-softness of each pear. They longed to touch the pears, to taste their sweetness, but the fevered could not reach the pears. Instead, they had to settle for the pears that had fallen to the ground, those whose seal with the great tree had been broken, and those who were already rotting.
The fevered consumed the pears with great passion. They ate them and shared them with each other. They had hoped that these pears would soothe their feverish heat, but the heat only increased. They ate and ate and ate, consuming each pear with the same feverish pace with which they had just marched. The fevered pressed forward, the marched until the rotten pears were no longer enough. They wanted to fresh pears. They began hitting the great tree, seeking to dislodge the other pears, to break their great seals and send them into the depths to be consumed.
So enthralled were the fevered that none noticed the foxes who had snuck into the garden after them. Even when the foxes began stealing the little ones away, the fevered made no notice. They continued to praise and admire the tree, yet attacking it all the while, straining for every last pear it held. The foxes stole in silence. They had no need for words. They were merely dancing; dancing the same silent dance they had always danced and would always dance. And so the rabbits were slowly stolen; by the foxes, by the fever, the whole forest seemed to devour them. When the last of the fevered was taken, the little foxes slipped back into the forest and the fevered march continued.

    "No, child, you're not mine."

    A Horsey just broke through,
    An army got in.
    The Trojan ruse worked,
But couldn't hold back the men

    Blood loss from the fortress,
    A Pain/Passion delight
You fell for the trick, girl,
    You've earned all this plight.

    Thought he'd actually love you
    Like he said he would
    Push-pulling has ceased now,
    He'd run if he could.

    Of traitors and turncoats,
    A new song is sung
    From the same little mountains
    where your childhood was hung.

    And there's no going back.
    The gates just came down,
    Legs spread over track.
Where he took you to town.

Why must you haunt me long after your time is gone
It is over and there's nothing you can do

Of hearts and lust and teen tragedy
Of faith and trust and spread falsities
    I'm running out of time
Running short on a few good lines
And I can't seem to find anything that rhymes with "I hate you"
    Let's call it quits tonight
I'm tired of your damn fights
    And endless confessions
And heartfelt appologies that I know you want to mean
But you still won't mean anything to me
Your lies and my hate keep you from being all you could be.
    What do y'all think?

Those are very nice, especially My Treacherous Friends. Any ideas on getting them published or something similar?

Thanks everyone, I'm glad you like them. And no, I don't have any plans to publish them, to be honest I never really considered it. I wanted to start a band, but that didn't happen...

You should consider getting them published, and thats why I write because of my Band. Also to get some stuff out..but enough of that. Maybe try to start a band again. Really if I saw those and was looking to join a band I would certainly
    join it.

Well, I learn something new about you every day, don't I? Great stuff, Gym. "My Treacherous Friends" hits home with me just because of some of the stuff we've talked about. Do you write on a regular basis or will you just write 3 of these in a short time then have a long period where you don't write at all? I understand this stuff comes from inspiration, so I guess it really just varies...

I usually write a lot then don't write anything for a while. I wrote a lot Sophomore and Junior years, but haven't written much since school ended.
