I dont understand why people crank it up. If you go past 75% and listen for more than an hour it is harmful.

The answer is yes it can hurt your ears so its good not to listen to music constantly and if you do, listen to it at a minimum.

Yeah I used to have mine full, but it never really hurt too much.
Different effect on different folks I guess.

Bose sound. Making people deaf one store at a time.

The next big epidemic on the USA will be people 20-30 years from now going outright deaf from their loud movies, loud cars, and loud sound systems. Pair that up with Diabetes. Go USA. Raise the bar for self inflicted damage.

Apple restricted the voloume on the iPods about 3 years ago, they used to be a lot louder, but now it's pretty much nothing.

Your hearing may already be damaged. What makes it tricky is that the damage to your hearing may not be evident right away. The damage you're doing now by playing it too loud may not be noticable for months or even years - even if you stop playing it too loud right now.

Listening to your iPod at full blast everyday can eventually have a negative effect on your hearing. I have my music playing at about 50% of the maximum volume so that I can hear what is going on around me as well as enjoy the music at the same time.
