Large Hadron Collider..

Anyone read up on it? Know what it is? What its all about?

Just kinda curious what the general consensus on this thing is... Read it for more info, tbh I'm a huge fan of science but not a huge fan of this thing at all. Something about the risks associated.. heh.

Something about knowing there's scientists somewhere planning on starting something like this in... 6 months, being powerless to stop it even if you wanted to, scares me, like, seriously does. Maybe not just THIS particular instance, but generalized. More than the threat of global warming, terrorism, monsters, what have you, this is one of my primal fears.

Unfounded? What do you think?

I've read about this previously!!
PERSONALLY, I think it's a good idea. The 'Black holes' it will produce will be so minute compared to our naturally occuring black holes. Onl things within the egospehere will be effected..so really..the earth isn't going to get 'Sucked inwards'.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The amounts of energy it'll produce is actually quite small compared to some of the cosmic rays that enter our atmosphere from space, so if micro black holes exist and could destroy the Earth, they'd have done it already.
