If America was a communist state,

this writer's strike would be irrelevant. Everybody must admit it, that communism is at its core, much better than capitalism. If it wasn't screwed up by crazy dicatators, we'd all see how good it is.

Btw, I actually am serious about this post. I have been known to be sarcastic in the past.

If America were a communist state, not only would those writers not be able to strike, their writing would be tightly controlled by the government and thus vastly inferior.

You might think communism is like some solution to all the problems of the world, but in practice it always fall apart because eventually some despot like Stalin or Kim Il-sung ends up in charge. Even if we ignore them, communism is by its nature a dictatorial system. Prices could be fixed as high as the government wished and you wouldn't be able to do a thing about it, since there would be no alternatives. And without competition between companies and the prospect of fame and fortune, many people would lose the incentive to achieve anything, slowing the rate of technological advance. Only through freedom of the market can society be truly free.

yes but communism requires Everyone to do things without any motivation and all of them must cooperate. The true "communism theory" breaks when one has to insert power for everyone to follow the rules and come on. No one wants to do that.
Ironically true communism has nothing to do with the government. If everyone was equal in theory, everyone would be happy and no one would need the government. But of course that is not possible.

Some would argue this is possible within a democratic society as well. All it takes is a monolithic majority control of a capitalist system where the economic backbone of a nation is owned by a just a few, and the parties who nominate those who will be in the primaries come next election time have there hands deep in the pockets of these companies. Then you have all the makings of a democratic dictatorship.

Well if my memory serves correctly the Soviets was first to everything space related during there golden years except landing on the moon. There is some that will argue that we even did that.

Secondly, China proved that a communist government can prosper by the adoption of a controlled capitalist economy. Unfortunately, capitalism doesn't define freedom any better than Marxism. I believe both systems are equally corrupt in there own right (soviet communism and capitalism), as long as one or the few guide the many, the power will be abused and people will suffer.

I believe that our next major advancement in governmental architecture is some nation will reform there government system to something in between, even though Marxist supporters will argue that modern communism doesn't reflect the ideals of Mr. Marx. Marxism was intended to be something in between, however if you ever read Marx's governmental plans it doesn't clearly specify such details as to the line between the government and civil liberties such as personal property. The idea was good, which was intended to remove power from the hands of corporations instead be regulated by a community (by means of government regulation). It all goes back to that power corrupts issue.

I disagree, as I believe it's liberty that defines freedom. Good stuff none the less.

IF Fast-food wasn't loaded with fat, it would be the ultimate cuisine!

Bad example...but you have to come down from those insanely idiotic theoreticals... It will never happen, as people in a socialistic state will automatically follow a singe strong leader.

Marx was a genius, if we lived in a perfect world...
