    Computer help...

Hi, I've noticed this past year my computer has significantly slowed down in speed. Does anyone know any tips I can try, I am searching up Google but they don't seem very helpful.

Also my computer does not turn off properly. I.E. I click Shut Down, then it says "Saving Settings", then it does that and reaches the black screen. After the black screen it stays there and I can move the mouse. To turn it off I would have to push the power button for about 10 seconds. This has occured for hte past month. Anyone have any help on this topic too?

I own a Windows XP Home Edition, Pavilion PC. Had it for about 3 years and warranty ran out which means I can't get over the phone help either. Some one please help me!

You should definitely run defrag, and if you don't have an anti-virus/spyware/adware program you should definitely get one and wipe all the nonsense you probably have built up. Also might want to run disk cleanup to remove temporary files, and the like. Hopefully this helps some, otherwise I haven't a clue either.

Do you have a anti-spy ware program such as Ad-Aware, (free for the home edition). I have to run this program every day........

    Here's the link:

Do you have a registry cleaner installed? I also have to run this program often, (every other day).

    Here's one for sale:

Yes, I have all that antispyware crap and anti virus stuff. I would also like to ask what de-fragging does? Does it delete any important files such as pictures?

Reboot your computer and while rebooting, press "F8" often as you go thru the rebooting. Until you reach a new screen where you can select to restore previous working settings on your computer.

    This works for me...........
