Today, we've got... just... three holidays. ;_;
Ice Cream Day
Republic Day (Malta)
Santa Lucia Day (Sweden)
But Ice Cream Day makes up for it! =D I've never known nor even heard of someone who hates ice cream, and I'd be flabbergasted if I ever did. I'd be mad not to make this my holiday pick of the day.
Malta's Republic Day celebrates the same date in 1974 when Malta simply declared it was a republic after elections for a president.
Santa Lucia Day is a feast day for Saint Lucia, a role model for Christianity. Back in the 300 A.D. or so, Roman Christians were unfairly persecuted in Sweden. St. Lucia would sneak food to 'em in the middle of the night despite the risks of being persecuted herself; or being attacked at night. She'd certainly be easy to target, considering legend says she wore a crown of candles in order to traverse the dark. I'm surprised we're on a role in regards to feast days commemorating saints for actually saintly behavior...
Worst holiday post ever. What're y'all's favorite ice cream?! Nothin' beats coffee ice cream with toffee.
