Wouldn't you think the people bringing their religion into the politics which it doesn't belong in are to blame, rather than the religion itself?

Welcome t' the world of cynicism, Nick. May you indulge in enough human stupidity to open your eyes, but not enough to break your spirit.

Both destroyed their country's budget, but only one of 'em did so to pocket the money himself. One is a (poor?) leader dealt a poor hand, the other is a Tyrantrum bluffing his shitty hand to the entire world.

When ya get down to it, religion's purpose is to instill a set of principles, ideals and beliefs into whomever would listen. Religion wants to be law. So yes, religion is entirely to blame just as much as the conscious entities who attempt to carry out their creed's goals.

Religion being law wouldn't be so bad if people didn't twist and tweek it to their personal agenda. Take the Koran for example. Use to it inspired peace amoungst men. Then to get his people to support a war he wished to start, one man long ago did some rewriting of the entire religion and made it into the violent unforgiving religion the Taliban and Al Queda follow today. This has happened to Christianity countless times aswell. A religion that, since the New Testament, promoted unconditional love to everyone no matter their race, gender, or beliefs, has been tweaked to support people who wanted to promote slavery, anti-women's rights, homophobia, and wars on people who were just different. This is why religion is not to blame. I this case you shouldn't hate the game, but hate the player... The players that change the rules.

I can assure you that law based on Aztec principle would definitely be so bad.

Religion mixing with law and/or politics is quite literally just as bad as corrupt officials bein' in charge, as in either situation, justice is thrown out the window either for the pursuit of personal goals or, specifically for the former, personal beliefs. Religion bein' law is literally tweeking law to fit one's personal agenda, regardless of good or bad intent.

Many dogma use such things as a foundation to build themselves. Last I checked, most-every religion ever ain't too keen on gender equality.

Scientifically, genders are not equal. If one wants gender equality, they'd need to resort to organizations with similar beliefs, which has been done in the past. Incidentally, in early America, these groups were christians.

And how would you enforce equal gender rights among your fellow citizens? More importantly, how would you make the rest of the world follow your beliefs on the matter? I'm certain one wouldn't be satisfied with only a state or country being gender equal while the rest of the world does its own thing.
