Aye, that's correct.
Trying to motivate myself to play: Hat Fortress 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl, and Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.
Spoiler Alert!

Fire Emblem is pretty good. The paranoia of losing a soldier forever is both a good and bad thing though, because while it makes it more realistic, difficult, and unique, I feel it adds a bit too much worry to the game. It's not a big deal, though.

Aye, both a good 'n bad thing it is. Puts off casual players or simply anyone new to the series like nothin' else. But on the other hand, it adds a sort'a tension which makes the game all the more unique. Makes ya really get into it when one mistake can lead to your favorite unit gettin' run through. Whether a player tends to continue on with dampened spirits or restart the chapter once a unit falls, that permanent tension is somethin' I'd hate t' play the game without.
Either way, if that issue with a unit permanently dyin' does ever become a bigger deal for ya, you'd be happy t' know FE12 (Heroes of Light and Shadow) has a "casual" mode where fallen units return t' fight with ya next chapter.
