That is somewhat true. AC1 had a more traditional view of 'em, minus Abstergo. But the second game ruined the "historical" portrayal from the first game and uh... I don't know what they were trying to do.

They were tryin' to make a B-list action/sci-fi plot meant for a movie... in a video game. 'Least, that's the unpleasant vibe I felt after my initial playthrough; certainly hasn't faded after subsequent save files.
