Nothing brilliant, but I'm working on it. It's just general stuff that I thought about, don't expect anything good.
So, in a nutshell, I think that there might be 6 factors that stir emotions such as boredom, rage, and excitement.
External pity: When you feel bad for someone/something outside yourself, ie; feeling bad for somebody breaking their leg
Internal pity: When you feel bad for yourself. Both kinds of pities can often be associated with sadness.
External aggression: When you get hostile towards someone/something you consider an aggressor, ie; bullies
Internal aggression: Hostility towards yourself, ie; feeling like an idiot
External embrace: Someone/something that makes you feel good, ie; a girlfriend, or a cool video game
Internal embrace: When you feel awesome for something you did. Pride.
These can be combined into emotions we know about. For example:
A lust for revenge is a mixture of internal pity/eternal pity and external aggression. Guilt is a combination of internal aggression and external pity. Helping somebody who needs help could be considered a combination of internal embrace and external pity.
I think the external pity is meant to discourage us to hurt others, internal pity is meant to improve our surroundings, external aggression is meant to defend against threats, internal pity is meant to improve ourselves, external embrace is meant to motivate us to get beneficial things, and internal embrace reinforces good behavior. Obviously these don't actually work in this way half of the time, but I like to think this makes some sense.
Obviously it's easy to point out flaws in this thinking. It's not supposed to be in detail at all, this is merely some of my analysis without much outside input. Attack all you want, I only thought about it for like 30 minutes.

We are animals, though. And I know that Christians think that humans are a "blessed creature", but I don't share said views. I think we're just abnormally smart and have convinient body functions, like opposable thumbs.
