Wi-Fi Trouble

I've been trying to connect to Wi-Fi on my DS. I end up having to type in my WEP Key which is two letters, two numbers, and then three letters in that order. I click OK and it says it's not valid. I don't get it. Help? I've looked all over for an answer but can't find one.

Not sure if this is gonna help, but.
I can use my Android phone as a WiFi hotspot (therefore connecting my ds to the net through my phones data connections).... I needed to change the Security settings on my phone (or your wifi device) to WEP(128) a default password for my ds and wifi hotspot was 13 ASCII Characters....eg '1234567890abc'

Never. Late last year, I finally got wireless. I tried a few times and when I type in my WEP key, it always says "invalid." But it is the right key.
