wii locked up and won't come back

my 2 day old wii has a blank black screen and after several attempts I still can not get it going. I tired unpluging the unit and waiting 5 mintues the lights come on but no visual output. The disk goes in and out fine and lights are on but that's it. I worked very hard to get this for my kids and of course, there day will be lessened greatly if they can't play. Can anyone help me?
