yeah, the gamecube wavebird one works....i use it...i've heard the 3rd party ones are iffy though, and might not work....but haven't gotten around to trying them yet....didn't want to buy one and then find out it didn't.
Also, someone at gamestop said not to buy thte gamestop ones....those are crap she told me. LOL

Getting a WaveBird seems like a better investment than a Wii Classic Controller, seeing as the WaveBird will work with ALL non-Wii game you play on your Wii... Whereas a Wii Classic Controller doesn't work on ANY GameCube games.
