I never said that you had said that, either. Hell, I even carried on your post (with the 1080i). No reason to rep me and leave "Nigger" as a comment, I wasn't bashing you at all.

    I"m getting conflciting info..

If the Wii is more powerful than the original xbox, shouldn't i receive at least a comprable image quality? I don't. My wii is inferior (in terms of jaggies) than original Xbox games... These games are played through the 360. Does that matter? Are these games some how upscaled or rendered differently on the 360?

This is the main reason why I ask about my cable. I guess the biggest annoynace is that text on the Wii menus is rough and not smooth.

I have the official Nintendo component cable hooked up to my 42 inch plasma, and yes, the text is a little jagged. Its because of the resolution of the screen. Same thing happens if you try and run a computer at on a TV at a larger resolution than it can run comfortably.

    Finally my answer from wikipedia:
"Backward compatibility is achieved through software emulation of the original Xbox. Emulated games offer graphical enhancements because they are rendered in 720p, 1080i, or 1080p resolution with anti-aliasing enabled rather than the Xbox standard of 480p"...

so the 360 does render games different than the original.. so I dont have a valid comparison. I'm now confident that it is not my cable.

Because the Wii is more powerful than the 360, then there stands a possibility that eventually they could offer an upgrade so the Wii could render 720p res. that would be sweet.

Edit: Sorry, didn't mean the 360, meant to say the original Xbox.

I didn't leave you a comment or any reputation points (positive or negative). You must have pissed off somebody else.

Sorry I didn't realize what you were driving at earlier.

@beach. The Wii is not more powerful than the 360. It's more powerful than the xbox.

I'm pretty sure the original Xbox could output at 720p. I know its not as powerful as the 360.

Also, I sent an email to nintendo asking about a possible upgrade to 720p...maybe if they get enough people requesting this they will realize that it is a big problem and decide to fix it?

You're right the xbox could display 720p - a higher resolution that the Wii (and also note that MS added in 1080i supports later via a downloadable upgrade). It remains, though, that the Wii's hardware is still superior in almost every way to the xbox's.

And, yes, they should really add in 720p support. It's definitely not outside the scope of the Wii's capabilities, and it would help things look nicer.
