Well from what I have seen flash is very similar to EEPROM but its not the same thing. But I guess I'm mistaken. I just looked it up and some places say that flash is just a variation of EEPROM and some places say that they are two different things so I don't know. Flash only has so many write erase cycles so eventually its gonna go out and your gonna be screwed. They should just put in a hard drive instead of flash.

What, are you kidding? Flash memory is much faster and has 0 moving parts. Hard drives take up a lot more space and can have head crashes and are quite a bit slower in reading/writing.

Flash drives will probably in a few years be the defacto for storing data.

Flash is more expensive therfore if they put in a hardrive instead it would probably have more space than the flash. And flash will eventually quit working since they only have so many write erase cycles. Thats why they havn't replaced hardrives. Until the price comes down and they have infinite write erase cycles they arn't gonna replace the hardrive.

I agree. I personally won't be buying an 8GB SD card that would set me back $200 when I could just buy a 300GB hard drive for the same price.
