Yeah, this is kinda dissappointing, because I was planning to get a Wii for my cousin this christmas but looks like I better get it before then.

this is like when the ipod came out. in retail at radio shack 2 years ago, we had to ship them through the store warehouse since we we short supplied in store stock. it was a crap shoot every time.

    this is really no different.

Man, I don't know for sure, but the Wii seems to have more momentum than even when the PS2 came out. Craziness!

the wii is running off hardware a little better than the gamecube, its last gen graphics, if that cant be produced fast and in large enough numbers nintendo has a serious problem. and it cant be because of the wiimote or sensor, because wiimotes are easy to find alone and 2 candles could be a sensor bar.

    This doesn't surprise me.
A lot of great games are coming out at the end of the year, Metroid Prime 3 and SSBB for instance. Sorry for those who will not be playing those games, I feel for you, I missed out on the Wii last Christmas.

I agree with Sovieto this time. Nintendo could ramp up production but they have more to gain by controlling supply. With limited supply demand goes up. Right now hype is keeping the Wii phenomenon alive.

People desire what that cannot have.

true, we all have to agree that, I mean, at least I hear more comments about the excitement of future 360 and PS3 games from people than about wii games....yea we want metroid and smash and the new mario, but there are plenty of other games on the tips of the tongues of the 360 and ps3 owners....so it's good for nintendo to create a strong desire and make it a little hard to get

You are comparing the production of the gamecube to the production of the Wii?

Don't pretend like you know anything about hardware. Especially not to me who has seen your lack of knowledge first hand.

Actually the technology that they are using to make Wii's is new... For the processor they are using a 90 nm lithography process which was the same as the xbox 360 until recently and the newest process AMD was using at the time. The die size for Broadway is small so they should be able to get a lot per wafer. For the size and power used you are getting some really good power and top notch technology.

For production there's a lot of factors though its not as easy as u think to increase production. Ramping factories up to full capacity is the easiest way to increase production of course. If that is a fact, then they need to either buy more factories or give out more contracts which they could lose a lot of money if they over shoot the demand or if/when demand drops.
