    Region free? Coming to the Wii?

    Is it true that evenutually you will be able to play games from any country on the Wii? Like the DS? Did the DS not play US games when it came out?
    Wii games I own: Medal Of Honour Heroes 2, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Resident Evil 4, Red Steel, Mario Strikers Charged, Fifa 08, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Mario Galaxy, Big Brain Accademy, Battalion Wars 2 and Wii Sports.

    I thought the DS was always region free, not sure.

    I don't see why they will make region free games, because some countries will have the games cheaper with the currency exchange and all, I don't think Nintendo would like that. Would kick ass though

    I know that we in the UK could get cheaper games but we can do this for the DS so I don't think we can rule it out, that is unless whether the DS was region free from the start.

    The DS was always region free. The Wii is region locked and will most likely stay like that due to virtual console and Nintendo Europe being unable to release games in a timely manner

    Yeh the regions have got something to do with NTSC and PAL so its not just a thing of unlocking it. Am I right?
    Tip of the day:
    A big mistake a lot of you make is that wiiware games will be free.

    Wiiware is just the same like the virtual console. Its different in that it offers new games instead of old console games.

    I can think of some easy games ( Like tetris and some other in that direction ) that can be free but the majority will cost money.
