    Wii Bump Mapping

Ok I had to get in on this one.

There is no such thing as replacement mapping. Its called DISplacement mapping. Please dont post things you just hear and get it wrong.

OK, nomatter what anyone says the wii CAN NOT do normal mapping. normal mapping is a pixel shader and the wii cannot do it!!

I know the latest Dewy game or whatever claims that have it but it is indeed at BdVr bump. We are doing the same thing and it works like a directional bump.

No console really uses displacement as its expensive and bumps are a bit better.

The wii uses a distant cousin of OpenGL so it can do some things but dont expect much.

Bwuh? Who said it couldn't handle Bump Mapping (which isn't as good as normal mapping)? BWii does feature it for example.

Yeah right, with OpenGL it'd be possible to run DX10 on it, too, even though it wouldn't make too much sense.

feel free to add me to your Wii, but don't forget to PM me

how about some rep for good posts

I don't know much about the Wii's hardware specs but the MP3 devs have stated that the Wii is capable of much better graphics then even MP3 offers.

It's not like it matters once graphics hit hyper realism in a couple years other consoles will be dead because they have nothing to offer because they won't be able to make the graphics any better then that at which point they will have to develop better controls. Most likely some sort of holographic technology and/or complete immersion of the senses in a virtual reality type setting.

Please PM me before adding me!

Has anyone wondered why Nintendo didn't release specs? I mean the entire system has been based on 3rd party testers. Microsoft and Sony were all too quick to throw out numbers. Have any of you thought to wonder that perhaps a update could overclock the Wii? Do you wonder why it doesn't really get that hot while the other two systems cook in your sweat from their heat? Could it be possible that Nintendo does have longevity in mind but not how you and I think? I say yes and it's possible to all of those questions. How simple could it be, let's say, 2-3 years down the line they update the system to overclock it. While the other 2 systems are hitting their strides with developers, the Wii opens a new "system" for developers that contains things we do not know yet. Who knows is what I am saying....

Did Nintendo themselves release the specs or did another party do their own tests?

Even if he isnt a wii developper he could still know what hes talking bout.
    Tip of the day:
A big mistake a lot of you make is that wiiware games will be free.

Wiiware is just the same like the virtual console. Its different in that it offers new games instead of old console games.

I can think of some easy games ( Like tetris and some other in that direction ) that can be free but the majority will cost money.
