ya, you do need a gamecube controller. They are really inexpensive though now. Just DO NOT EVER get controller thats NOT made by Nintendo. Also, I recommend getting a wireless controller. They're a little bit more but its really cool to keep everything wireless

Wavebirds were sweet. Too bad they came out so late in the Gamecube's lifetime.
I tend to get on around 8 o'clock PM Eastern time, and mostly play until I get too drunk.

My Gamecube games are still getting played, hard. But, yeah...it's a shame they weren't really introduced until the Gamecube's "death".

Wireless run on batteries dont they? imo it would such having to keep buying batteries for your controller. I just got a MadKatz controller and bought an extension on Amazon for like $2

I got this controller for $20.00 new. It is wireless and feels almost like an official Nintendo controller. At first the buttons seemed stiff but after a 2 hour Phantasy Star Online session it felt almost as good as a Nintendo pad.

It takes 3 AAAs. I use rechargeables.

It's actually white and has a blue glow like the Wii DVD slot. For some reason the model in the picture is black like the old gamecube model. The paint is white like the Wii, but the "craked" design lights up blue. This is nice because you can always tell if the controller is on so you don't waste your batteries.

The box said Wii iglow gamecube controller

    http://www.dreamgear.net/view-product.asp?idpr=496

I found it at Hastings(books, movies, games)

    Cons...
-not as good as official Nintendo controllers
    -like the wavebird, no rumble
