Nintendo has stated before that they may update VC games in the future to include online features.

I have the strange desire to play Dr. Mario online Via VC. Dunno why but it sounds like it would be fun. Especially if they upgraded the graphics.

Dr. Mario & Bacteria Extermination is a puzzle video game starring Dr. Mario in development for WiiWare, a service launching for Nintendo's Wii in Japan in March 2008.
