dvd is old technology who cares if wii can play them?
Gamertag/PSN ID=SensesFailxWiix if you add me send me a message via console or wiichat
The Wii is capable of playing DVD's.... the rumour that "the dvd spins the opposite way" is just that.. a rumour.... there is no hardware upgrade needed for the Wii to play DVD movies. Basically if Nintendo wanted the Wii to play DVD's they can send us a firmware update... or if you really want the Wii to play DVD's go get a Mod Chip.
PM to add me to Wii and from there we can add different games!

which is it? Does it play them or not? You initially said it did, then you said it doesn't.

The Wii drive wasn't made to play DVDs, it would only burn the laser up.
It is capable of it tho. There are hacks that can do that. But as I said, the laser would quickly just burn up. T

Wii stuff: Modded Wii, 2 wiimotes and nunchucks, 2 gamecube controllers
Wii games: Wii Sports, Strikers, Rampage, WarioWare, Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime 3, Super Paper Mario, Mario Party 8
DVD is "old" technology sure, but it isn't old enough for people to forget about. I can possibly see these Bluray and HD DVD technologies fail to rise above this supposed DVD. Bluray and HD will probably be kept for gaming (more disc space for gfx/audio) and regular still hold enough space for DVD's now.
