16x9 titles not filling screen as they should

I've been trying to figure out why 16x9 titles do not fill my 16x9 Pioneer Elite Plasma and am coming up with no answers. The Wii menu fills the screen 100%, settings are 16x9 Widescreen and 480p, I'm using component cables, and TV is set to FULL. The games will almost fill the screen, but still have an inch or two on both sides that are not getting filled. This happens on all the 16x9 enabled games. On games that are not, they are stretched and fill the whole screen.

Also, if I change the settings on the TV to Wide, Cinema, or even Zoom, nothing happens. If I change to 4:3 on the TV than I get a 4:3 picture, compressed of course. Does anyone else see this? I'm a little concerned about burn in when I play endless hours which is why I'm asking.

    TIA

    Anthony C.

I think I just found the answer to my question. I guess some games are underscanned 16x9 and don't fill the screen 100%. This is **** stupid.

If anyone has suggestions anyway, pass them along.

    Thanks.
