I just read a Zelda review, and the guy said that the graphics are better if you have the component cables. So my question to you guys is, can I use the component cables if I don't have a HDTV or whatever?

no, you need at least an EDTV... HDTVs are backwards-compatible with EDTVs.

The component cables are the green, red, blue, etc. cables

If your TV has component inputs, then yes you can use component cables. If it doesn't, you can't.
If you are playing the Wii on a normal TV then get the S-Video cable instead. It will probably be cheaper and you won't notice much difference on a standard TV.
