    Component can be used on a SDTV and it will provide a better quality picture than composite though I don't think its worth $30 unless you have a HD/ED TV.

    Component, I believe, brings your resolution to 480p. That might be an enhanced tv though. It gets kinda confusing

    Ya EDTV (enhanced TV) is 480p. You can't just have a SDTV and plug in some component cables and it will magically turn into 480p but if you have a ED or HD TV then you will need to get component cables to get 480p.
