So next-gen will be the last eh?
It will depend on Sony's profit margins, they dont just do consoles, so they can always drop them if its just draining cash. Nintendo on the other hand....thats ALL they do, so I can see next gen, Nintendo really putting up a fight against the 360, and maybe PS4 will become a very specialised unit, much like PS3 is (cheapest Blu_ray player, so so games). The next XBox on the other hand, up in the air really, Billl Gates aint the boss anymore, so it depends how much of an investment the new boss wants to pour into a home console, whilst the PC market is (very) slowly shrinking, thanks to a rekindled love with Apple the world has seemed to have taken to.
It will be interesting times indeed, and I hope that Nintendo have the momentum to keep on top, but theyre going to have to think of something pretty radical, and I'm sure theyre onto it right now....

Interesting article, I don't think its quite as bad as this guy is saying though. Arguments about systems doesn't strike me as petty really. At least they get passionate about something ^_^

Really this gens console war is the tamest. There is no real looser. Things where worst during the 16 bit days and that carried on to the 32 bit days. This was the time when fanboys actually started really working in the industry and the PS was just coming out.

Also too fan boy are needed really. With out them gamers would be horrible informed. The PS2 would still be the most powerful console last gen and no one would know about RROD till it happened to them...LOL and no one would know about the old nintendo.

Just think you don't find too many atari fanboys and thats partly why the Jaguar flopped. These guys are the early adopters. With out them used games and price breaks would not even happen. It's painful brain deaden to talking to them some times yet I give them lots of props for putting their money where their mouth is.

There are plenty of atari fanboys, the company itself just gave up on consoles for a while after getting pounded into the ground by the new 8, 16, and 32 bit systems... Then they try to come out years later with the "expensive" but cool 64 bit Jaguar. Most of what fans Atari had were playing on other systems by then. They only related to atari when it came to there "classic game play" Atari fanboys still make and play atari roms for there old system today.. Just goes to show how quick your fans opinion of you will change if you change. And the fact Atari itself has changed owners so many times.

I look at Gaming companys much like sports teams... if you move the team to a different city or drop your star players in hopes of attracting new fans most likely your going to risk loosing a lot of your current and old fans in the process.
Thats why its gonna be hard for Sony and MS to compete with Nintendo this round. The "Family friendly system" isn't anything new to Nintendo fans, but it will put a bad taste in the mouth of alot of diehard Sony and MS fans if they try to change over to this style of gaming aswell to pick up sales.
