how find region of disc prior to update?

    1) Should I be installing priiloader as a safety net first or is that just an additional risk?
    2) Is it safer to update from the wifi link so as to make sure the region is correct?
    3) ..AND THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION...Is there any way that updating would brick my wii?

Thanks for any responses out there folks.
I have found an answer to this problem by updating through the wifi connection but I came across another problem. I put in my newer backup discs and they are still asking for an update in the disc channel. I am afraid to do this in case the disc is somehow not ntsc region.

How do I find out if the disc is confirmed ntsc so I don't risk messing up my wii?

the most common cause of brawl failing is a dusty disc drive. 1 buy a cleaning kit 2 take it to a store or 3 send it to nintendo.

    Please help!!!!!!!!

I just purchased my 1st wii tonight and I was so excited! We got it home and got it all set up. As soon as we turned it on, these vertical blinking dashes come up. They are only on when the wii is on. We used to have a playstation 2 and it did the same thing. Sounds like it might be the tv instead? We have a 60' Mitsubishi 1080p Rear projection tv. Is there something I am not doing or does anyone know how to help????? Please!!!
