It is bad i havent done the updates yet?

I got my wii last night, but i catnt get the internet to work, so is it bad i havent done it yet. Hopefully i will get the internet to work this weekend.. Its not connecting to the router, the test keeps on failing.... Is it ok i havent done the updates yet?

I don't think it's necessary. There are two updates, one get's you access to the Virtual Console and the other, I am not too sure exactly what it does, but I did play some games before I updated and they worked fine.

yea its not exactly needed.
though you will eventually need them if you want to do more (wii news, forcast, wii shop, etc..)
