Super Monkey Ball....Need HELP!!!

somehow i can't seem to get the 2nd player into it...and it's very troubling, considerin i only got this game mainly for the mini games
can anyone shed some light onto what i should do properly???
the manual doesn't say squat...and there's no easy guide like Wii Sports

Multiplayer is only available in the mini games. You should see different color circles around the characters when you select them. Each beeing the different player. press 1 when everyone is selected. Multiplayer is extremely fun, Good Luck
